EQUINE ULTRASOUND WORKSHOPS

6th Annual Equine Conference -- Wet Lab

This wet lab will be demonstrating the techniques used for ultrasound exams of four areas.
• Forelimb Cannon Area
• Distal Pastern and Foot
• Fetlock and Proximal Pastern
• Hindlimb Cannon

Wet Lab will be limited to the first 20 registrants. You must be registered for the Summer Equine Conference and participate in the Saturday morning lecture with Dr. Gillis to participate in this Wet Lab. There will be a $300 additional chargefor this lab.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography: A Focus on the Upper Limb
WHEN: September 18 & 19, 2010

Saturday Lecture (8 a.m. – 12 p.m.)

  • Ultrasonography of osseous and soft tissue structures of the shoulder
  • 3D Models to understand cervical facet ultrasonography
  • Stifle ultrasonography
  • Ultrasonography for pelvic fractures
  • Lumbosacral & sacroiliac cases

Practical Wet Lab Session
Group 1—Saturday (1 p.m. – 5 p.m.)
Group 2—Sunday (8 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
*Each Wet Lab session limited to 10 participants

Lectures will be presented by Dr. Mary Beth Whitcomb, Associate Professor of Large Animal Ultrasonography at UC Davis, using the latest in presentation techniques to simulate the ultrasound exam. Dr. Whitcomb will be joined by her faculty colleague, Dr. Betsy Vaughan, to instruct wet lab participants in proper imaging techniques of the lectured structures. Drs. Whitcomb & Vaughan bring a combined 19 years teaching experience in the art of ultrasonography and are dedicated to providing the best in hands-on ultrasound experience to wet lab participants.
