XView: A Revolution in Speckle Reduction Technology
Same-study images, XView enhanced image processing, right.
The MyLab series features a revolutionary solution to improve image quality via speckle reduction. Speckle is the random grainy texture that obscures anatomy in ultrasound images and is usually described as "noise". Due to the information reduction effect and the decreased image quality and readability, studies concerning methods to reduce or eliminate speckle are of great interest to ultrasound system engineers.
XView is the first technology where speckle reduction is applied to each stage of the image-formation process: acquisition, processing and presentation. Every stage is influenced, and can influence the other stages, in order to obtain the best possible image. The user controls three parameters of the image:
XSmooth flattens the “noise” that affects the image.
XDetail enhances the details of the contours, curves, edges and structures present in the image, enabling the end user to view even the smallest characteristics and particulars.
XEnhancement maximizes the information content and enables the end user to visualize in the best possible way the information related to the structures already emphasized with the other adjustments.
